Am 10. September 2026 veranstaltete GegenStrömung eine online Veranstaltung zum Thema: Stimmen vom Fluss – Widerstand gegen Großinfrastrukturprojekte am Beispiel von Staudämmen. Im Online-Seminar teilten die internationalen Flusschützer*innen Cleyton Valentin Chumpate (Organisación Milenaria Ashaninka y Nomatsiguenga de Pangoa, Experte für indigene Rechte, Peru), Merah Johansyah (NUGAL Institute for Social and Ecological Studies, Indonesien) und Eugene Simonov (Rivers without Boundaries International Coalition, über ein eingeschicktes Video) ihre Perspektiven auf ihren Widerstand gegen Staudammprojekte. On 10 September 2026, GegenStrömung organised an online event on the topic: ‘Voices from the River – Opposition to Major Infrastructure Projects: The Example of Dams’. During the online seminar, the international river defenders Cleyton Valentin Chumpate (Organización Milenaria Ashaninka y Nomatsiguenga de Pangoa, expert on indigenous rights, Peru), Merah Johansyah (NUGAL Institute for Social and Ecological Studies, Indonesia) and Eugene Simonov (Rivers without Boundaries International Coalition, via a pre-recorded video) shared their perspectives on their resistance to dam projects. From 4 pm to 6 pm (CEST), Dominique Eckstein moderated the seminar, which was held in English and Spanish. The event was recorded and can be viewed above.
